New Delhi/Chandigarh, May 5 (UNI) Former Punjab assembly deputy speaker Charanjeet Singh Atwal on Friday joined Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).

He joined the party in New Delhi in the presence of BJP's National President J P Nadda.

Mr Atwal had left Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) last month after the BJP declared his son Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal party's official candidate for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by polls scheduled on May 10.
